I have produced a limited edition print for Josephine and I, written and performed by Cush Jumbo and directed by Phyllida Lloyd at the Bush Theatre (Friday 12 July-Saturday 17 August 2013). Also, I collaborated with Cush on an artwork for the play - a print - which could be used anywhere on the set, photos will follow later this week.

Nightworks is a film and video installation and performance event including artists, filmmakers and tutors mainly from the Visual Communication programme at the Royal College of Art.  This one night event offers a dynamic engagement with the location and audience, featuring new and existing work, some made specifically for TESTBED1, a former Victorian dairy.

Thanks to all who came yesterday to Brick Project at Turner Contemporary. The talk focused on the production and history of Yellow Stock bricks which are made locally in Kent, they are a distinctive pale yellow colour with various irregularities created during the firing process. 

Today these bricks are produced via an automated process by the Smeed Dean Brick Works in Sittingbourne, this is the last remaining bricks in Kent and the only place in the UK which produces the yellow stock brick.

Is a brick just a brick? Artist Laura Wilson presents her Brick Project, which explores the material’s functions, its relationship to the human body and place in social history, with surprising findings. Free cup of tea with every ticket.

The Brick Project is Wilson’s current research project, supported by the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust. Wilson taught herself to brick-lay whilst constructing a site-specific structure with 17th century bricks on an archaeological site. She has travelled to China, Peru, the Netherlands and Belgium to investigate the history of bricks and their architectural significance in different cultures and historical periods.

The Brick Project forms part of Wilson’s wider artistic practice.
