Thanks to all who came yesterday to Brick Project at Turner Contemporary. The talk focused on the production and history of Yellow Stock bricks which are made locally in Kent, they are a distinctive pale yellow colour with various irregularities created during the firing process.
Today these bricks are produced via an automated process by the Smeed Dean Brick Works in
Sittingbourne, this is the last remaining bricks in Kent and the only place in
the UK which produces the yellow stock brick.
